About Me

I’m Karen LaFlair, APRN, PMHNP-BC—founder of Resilient Mind Clinic and a lifelong student of human healing. Before stepping into the world of psychiatry, I spent over 16 years teaching yoga and practicing Thai bodywork, helping people reconnect with their bodies, breath, and inner wisdom. I also worked as an ICU nurse, holding space for people in some of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of their lives.

My journey into integrative psychiatry wasn’t a straight line. It came from witnessing the limitations of one-size-fits-all mental health care, and the potential that opens when we treat the whole person.

That perspective was shaped, in part, by my work in capital mitigation—supporting individuals facing the possibility of the death penalty. I’ve spent years listening deeply to stories others have written off, holding space for grief, trauma, and complexity without judgment. That experience lives in my clinical work now: the belief that everyone’s life makes sense in context, and that healing begins with being fully seen.

I created this clinic to offer the kind of care I believe in: grounded, collaborative, and expansive—where medication, psychotherapy, and psychedelic medicine can all be part of the healing conversation. This is a fully virtual clinic serving clients across Kentucky, Colorado, and Montana. Whether you're in a small mountain town or a busy city, you can access high-quality, thoughtful psychiatric care from the comfort of your space.

Outside the clinic, you’ll usually find me chasing wild rivers, rugged trails, and wide-open skies. I’m a trail runner, yoga enthusiast, kayaker—and a believer in nature’s ability to mirror resilience, adaptation, and growth. That belief lives in this practice, too.

My style is warm, engaged, and non-hierarchical. I’m not here to fix you—I’m here to walk beside you, offer tools, and co-create a path forward. Whether we’re working with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, thoughtful medication management, or the quiet courage of simply showing up, I honor your story and your autonomy.
