Deprescribing and Ketamine Therapy in New York

Antidepressant and Benzodiazepine Tapering in New York

Personalized Deprescribing Support Through Telehealth

Resilient Mind Clinic provides individualized telehealth deprescribing support for adults throughout New York. Care focuses on gradual antidepressant and benzodiazepine tapering for people who want to reduce psychiatric medications carefully, with guidance from a psychiatric prescriber who takes withdrawal symptoms seriously.

Whether you are beginning to question a medication, struggling after reducing too quickly, or looking for a provider who supports your goal of taking less medication, your taper will be shaped around your history, symptoms, priorities, and response.

Antidepressant Tapering for New York Adults

Stopping an antidepressant can be more complicated than simply lowering the dose over several weeks. Some people experience significant withdrawal symptoms, particularly after long-term use or rapid dose reductions.

Resilient Mind Clinic uses an individualized approach that may include hyperbolic tapering, smaller reductions at lower doses, and compounded or liquid medication when appropriate. Your tapering plan can be slowed, paused, or adjusted depending on how your nervous system responds.

Support may include:

  • Review of your medication and tapering history

  • Education about antidepressant withdrawal

  • Hyperbolic antidepressant tapering

  • Gradual and individualized dose reductions

  • Monitoring throughout the taper

  • Adjustments based on symptoms and tolerability

  • Coordination with your therapist or other healthcare providers

There is no expectation that you follow a predetermined timeline. The goal is to find the pace that works for you.

Benzodiazepine Tapering in New York

Benzodiazepine withdrawal can be physically and emotionally challenging, especially when medication has been taken regularly or reduced too quickly. A careful taper provides time for the nervous system to adjust gradually.

Benzodiazepine tapering is personalized and may be informed by principles from the Ashton Method and other established deprescribing guidance. Your current medication, duration of use, previous taper attempts, symptoms, and preferences are all considered when developing the plan.

Care may include gradual dose reductions, discussion of a longer-acting medication when clinically appropriate, symptom monitoring, and adjustments throughout the taper.

Thoughtful Psychiatric Medication Management

Not every client begins care knowing whether they want to discontinue medication completely. You may simply want a careful review of what you are taking, how the medications interact, which treatments remain helpful, and whether your current regimen still makes sense.

Thoughtful medication management may include:

  • Reviewing the benefits and side effects of current medications

  • Simplifying a complicated medication regimen

  • Reconsidering medications that are no longer helpful

  • Making careful medication adjustments

  • Discussing non-medication supports

  • Developing a gradual deprescribing plan when appropriate

Decisions are made collaboratively, with respect for both clinical evidence and your experience in your own body.

Collaborative Ketamine Prescribing in New York

Resilient Mind Clinic also provides psychiatric assessment, medical oversight, and oral ketamine prescribing for eligible New York adults participating in KAP.

Psychotherapy is not provided by Resilient Mind Clinic. Ketamine prescribing is offered in collaboration with your therapist, who provides preparation, therapeutic support, and integration. This allows each provider to remain within their role while working together to support your care.

Ketamine is not appropriate for everyone. A psychiatric evaluation and medical screening are required before any prescribing decision is made.

Specialized Care at an Accessible Cost

Specialized deprescribing appointments can cost $400 or more, placing careful tapering support beyond the reach of many people who need it. Resilient Mind Clinic intentionally maintains more accessible private-pay fees because safe deprescribing and thoughtful psychiatric care should not be available only to those with significant financial resources.

Appointments still provide the time needed to understand your history, answer questions, and make careful decisions without unnecessary third-party interference.

Can you help if I have already started tapering?

Yes. Some clients seek support before making their first reduction, while others come to Resilient Mind Clinic after beginning a taper independently or with another provider. Your current dose, previous reductions, symptoms, and goals will be reviewed before determining the next step.

Do I have to stop my medication completely?

No. Deprescribing does not automatically mean discontinuing every medication. Your goal may be to lower your dose, simplify your medication regimen, discontinue one medication, or explore whether medication is still necessary.

How quickly will my medication be reduced?

There is no standard timeline. The pace depends on factors such as the medication, current dose, duration of use, previous tapering experiences, withdrawal symptoms, and personal preference. Plans can be adjusted as the taper progresses.

Can you coordinate with my therapist or current provider?

Yes. With your permission, care can be coordinated with your therapist, primary care provider, or another member of your treatment team.

Do you provide psychotherapy during KAP?

No. Resilient Mind Clinic provides psychiatric evaluation, medical oversight, and ketamine prescribing. Your therapist provides the psychotherapy, preparation, and integration support.

Is care available throughout New York?

Yes. Appointments are provided through telehealth for eligible adults physically located in New York at the time of their appointment.

Does everyone qualify for ketamine treatment?

No. Ketamine treatment requires a psychiatric assessment and medical screening. Your health history, medications, symptoms, treatment goals, and available support will be considered before determining whether treatment is appropriate.
